    Dr. Pura Alfonso

        Pura Alfonso is doctor in Geology from the University of Barcelona. Her PhD was focused on rare-element granitc pegmatites. Post-doctoral work at the Scottish and Environmental Research Center, SUERC, Scotland, developing isotopic studies to characterize mineralizing ore-forming fluids. From 1999 to 2003 researcher at the University of Barcelona with the study of the kinetics of the reaction dolomite aggregates with Portland cement pastes. From 2004 to 2007, she was researcher at the Consejo Superior de Investigaciones Científicas focused on fluid geochemistry. Since 2007 she is Senior Lecturer in the Department of Mining Engineering and Natural Resources Engineering School of Manresa, Polytechnic University of Catalonia. Her expertise research areas are on Mineralogy, Geochemistry and ore deposits, where she is coauthor of 40 papers in SCI journals.

    Dr. Frank Cheng

        Dr. Frank Cheng is a Professor and Canada Research Chair in Pipeline Engineering at the University of Calgary. He is an internationally recognized authority in oil/gas and pipeline corrosion research. Frank's research covers a wide spectrum of corrosion and materials issues in downhole tubulars, gathering and transmission pipelines, as well as coatings, steel metallurgy, risk assessment and nanotechnology.
        Frank is leading the development of the Pan-Canadian Strategic Research Network on Oil/Gas and Pipeline Corrosion and Its Control. He serve as the Chair of NACE International Task Group 521 "Testing of nonshielding property of pipeline coatings to cathodic protection", the Treasure of NACE Foundation of Canada, and the Guest Editor of the Special Issue on Pipeline Corrosion of the journal Corrosion Engineering, Science and Technology. He was the sole Canadian member of the U.S. National Academy of Sciences (NAS) Committee on Pipeline Transportation of Diluted Bitumen, of the British Columbia Ministry of Transportation Panel on Kitimat West Douglas Channel Corridor Analysis, and of the Canadian Pipeline Roadmap Steering Committee. With recognition of his major efforts and exceptional accomplishments in knowledge imparting and research in corrosion science and engineering, Frank was awarded the 2014 NACE International Herbert Uhlig Award.
        Frank earned a PhD in Materials Engineering at the University of Alberta in 2000.

    Prof. Omar K. Matar

        Omar Matar is Professor of Fluid Mechanics at Imperial College London. His research interests are in transport phenomena and multiphase flows with a wide range of applications: process intensification, light-mediated manufacturing, surfactant-replacement therapy, crude-oil and food processing, coating flow technology, manufacturing of pharmaceuticals, pipeline transportation of crude oil, distillation, and microfluidics. Professor Matar has studied a wide range of problems in fluid mechanics including surfactant transport on non-Newtonian layers, phase inversion in concentrated emulsions, thin film flows over rapidly rotating discs, nonlinear bubble sound interactions, fouling in heat exchangers in crude oil distillation units, dynamics of liquids spreading on compliant substrates, multiphase flow in large-diameter pipes, advanced experimental and numerical methods for the prediction of complex vapour liquid annular flows, and the removal of soft-solids adhering to solid substrates. Professor Matar has given over 40 invited presentations, and has been invited to write a number of influential reviews, including one in thin films in Reviews of Modern Physics (impact factor 51). He has co-authored over 150 journal articles that have so far received 2500 citations, with an h-index of 29. He is the Editor-in-Chief of Multiphase Sci. & Tech., an Executive Associate Editor of J. Eng. Math., and on the Editorial Advisory Boards of Int. J. Multiphase Flow, and J. Engineering.

    Prof. Marco Marengo

        Prof. Marco Marengo achieved a Master Degree in Physics cum laude at the University of Turin on Nonlinear Dynamical Systems applied to cosmology. In 1993, started the Ph.D. studies at the Polytechnic of Milan. Awarded by the Deutscher Akademischer Austauschdienst and by the EU Marie Curie Program, he joined the Institut of Fluidmechanics of Prof. Durst in Erlangen, Germany. He continued his Ph.D. studies in Erlangen, where in 1996-1997 he was post-Doc student. In 1996 he got a Ph.D. in Energetics at the Polytechnic of Milan with a thesis about “Drop Impingement on Liquid Film”. In 1998 he was research assistant at the University of Darmstadt, Germany. From 1998 to 2002 he has been assistant professor of Thermal Physics at the University of Bergamo advancing to Associate Professor of Thermal Physics in 2002. From 2003 to 2005 he was the University Responsible for the European Research. Since 2009 he is European Editor of the International Journal "Atomization & Sprays", Editorial Board member of "Heat Pipe Science and Technology" and other international journals. 2014 he was appointed as Professor of Thermal Engineering at the University of Brighton, joining the Center of Automotive Engineering. Presently he is leading the ESA PHP International scientific team and he is active in ESA parabolic campaigns and other research projects. Since 2005 he is visiting Professor at the University of Mons-Hainaut, Belgium. Reviewer for many international journals. He published more than 180 scientific papers among which 45 in peer-reviewed Journals about heat transfer, heat pipes, microgravity, pool and flow boiling, liquid sprays, drop impact on solid dry and wetted surfaces and building physics. He was co-founder of two spin-off companies and he acted as principal investigator in more than 20 industrial consultancies.

    Dr. Marton Takacs

    Dr. Marton Takacs

        Dr. Marton Takacs is an associate professor at the Department of Manufacturing Sciences and Technology at the Budapest University of Technology and Economics (BME). After finishing his studies at BME as mechanical engineer in 1998 he started his research work at Bay Zoltán Institute for Materials Science and Technology (BAYATI). He received his Ph.D. in mechanical engineering sciences in 2007. After that he became the head of Department of Metal Technology and Simulation at BAYATI. Between 2007 and 2015 Marton Takacs worked at Szent Istvan University, too, where he was appointed as college professor in 2011, and served as vice dean between 2010 and 2014. His current research field is focusing on experimental and theoretical investigation of machining processes under special circumstances such as micro milling and hard cutting. He is the author and co-author of 70 journal article and conference papers.

    Dr. Jamal Chaouki

        Prof. Chaouki is professor at Polytechnique, Montréal. He has supervised more than 70 Ph.D. and Master Students and more than 40 post-docs. He published more than 350 reviewed articles in refereed journals and in different reviewed proceedings and more than 400 other scientific articles and edited 6 books. He has more than 15 patents on different processes. He is now editor of the « Chemical Product and Process Modeling ». He is also director of Biorefinery Center and member of the Canadian Academy of Engineering. He is a member of the Board of the Ecole Polytechnique and several companies. He is world-renowned consultant for at least 20 national and international companies. He is Principal Chaire Holder of NSREC-Total Group in hydrodynamic modeling of multiphase processes at extreme conditions. His work is mainly dedicaded to develop processes from waste and biomass to heat & power, fuels and chemicals. At Polytechnique, he has one of the largest laboratories for thermal treatment of waste in the world.

    Prof. Zoltan K Nagy

        Dr Nagy is a Professor of Chemical Engineering at Purdue University and also holds a Research Professor Position at Loughborough University, UK, where he was a professor of process systems engineering.
        Dr Nagy has over 15 years of experience in advanced process control, process analytical technologies and crystallization modeling and control approaches. His current research focuses on the application of systems approaches and tools in the design and robust control of batch and continuous crystallization systems, process analytical technologies and integrated particulate manufacturing processes. He has authored more than 100 archival journal papers and the co-author of 2 books. He has given over 80 invited seminars at conferences, universities and companies worldwide, including many keynote and plenary talks. Dr Nagy graduated 12 PhD students and currently supervises or co-supervises 20 in the UK and Purdue.
        Dr Nagy is the Founding Editor of the Pharmaceutical Engineering Subject area of Chemical Engineering Research and Design, and associate editor of another four international journals in the area of process control. Dr Nagy is member of the stirring committee of the American Association for Crystallization Technologies, and the Crystallization Working Party of the European Federation of Chemical Engineers. He received awards and best paper prizes for his work in the areas of crystallization and control from IEEE, IFAC, European Federation of Chemical Engineering, Institute of Chemical Engineering, Council of Chemical Research, Royal Academy of Engineering and the European Research Council.
