On behalf
of the International Academy of Science, Engineering and Technology
(International ASET) and the University of Ottawa, the organizing
committee would like to welcome you to the
International Conference on Nanotechnology: Fundamentals and
Applications.
As
globalization leads to increasing interaction among regions and peoples
of the world, it is important to encourage multi-disciplinarity in
emerging scientific topics such as nanotechnology. Nanotechnology is
still in its infancy yet developing at an incredible pace and has given
rise to numerous novel applications to the solution of many current
problems. The market opportunity is substantial. Science and engineering
at the nanoscale will have a dramatic impact on fields such as
computing, electronics, telecommunications, energy, environment and
medicine. The current global market for nanotechnology is worth billions
of dollars and is expected to increase rapidly in the near future. Many
business and government leaders describe nanotechnology as “the next
Industrial Revolution,” yet the environmental and health impacts remain
unknown. However, there is a great need to assess and study the
implications and how this new technology can be implemented.
The aim of
the
International Conference on Nanotechnology: Fundamentals and
Applications
is to gather scientists and engineers from all over the world to present
advances in the field of nanotechnology and to foster an environment
conducive to exchanging ideas and information. This conference will also
provide a golden opportunity to develop new collaborations and meet
world nanotechnology experts on the fundamentals, applications and
products.
In the
first edition of this conference, twelve keynote speakers will share
their expertise in the various aspects of nanotechnology with the aim to
expose every participant to a wide spectrum of applications, to foster
crosspollination of ideas and develop new research interest. In
addition, approximately 200 papers will be presented covering all
aspects of nanotechnology.
Ottawa is
an outstanding city blending English, French and international cultures.
We hope you will have time to enjoy the ambience and hospitality of the
Canadian Capital city and the variety of international cuisine.
We thank
you for your participation and contribution to the
International Conference on Nanotechnology: Fundamentals and
Applications.
We wish you a very successful and enjoyable congress.
